11 Hours of Clouds (clouds)

‘11 Hours of Clouds’ is the title for a collection of works which happen either inside the airplane, in actual flights between Amsterdam and Guayaquil, or later, back in continental land but inhabiting the mental space of the airplane, a space of suspension, perspective and fluid thinking like clouds.

The title came to me after one flight when I attempted to do a print that would be as big as the Atlantic ocean itself, meaning a print that would be 11 hours long. The process of dying napkins and toilet paper rolls on board of the flight KL 751 concluded in a series of colorful toilet paper/napkin collages called ‘Clouds’ and a series of photocollage documenting the performance called ‘Windows’.
